Wild Atlantic Flights - The Boyne Valley
The delights of Irelands Ancient East!
Go back in time on this flight .This tour brings you firstly to one of the oldest sites in Ireland, The Hill of Tara. This ancient Royal site of the High Kings of Ireland dates back to the Neolithic period (roughly 5,000 years ago)..The best way to view the Hill of Tara is from the sky. Newgrange today is “unhesitatingly regarded as the great national monument of Ireland” and as one of the most important megalithic structures in Europe, both these sites are older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids. .You will then fly over the site of one our most famous battles-.The Battle of the Boyne – This was a battle in 1690 between the Catholic James II and the Protestant William III of England this took place in the beautiful Boyne valley just outside Drogheda. This was a watershed in Irish and European history (it changed the balance of power in Europe from the French to the Dutch in 1690).Finally Fly over Slane ’the cradle of Irish Christianity’ and Slane Castle-a natural amphitheatre and the scene of many great rock concerts ie Bruce Springstein ,Queen, David Bowie and U2”.
